Building On Progress - Global Climate Action Summit Affiliate

In affiliation with the Global Climate Action Summit, this event will focus on positive progress in the Okanagan region on climate action, especially healthy energy systems and sustainable communities. These efforts are part of the broader momentum achieved by the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, which requires the world to communicate, educate, improve policies, and strengthen resilience efforts.

Climate, Water, and Water Conservation in the Okanagan

The earth has abundant water, but less than 1% is fresh water available for human use. Like many parts of the world, the Okanagan Basin has a very limited supply of water and our per capita water use is very high. Dr. Michael Healey will discuss water issues in the Okanagan, climate change impacts and the potential for greater water conservation.

The Oliver Regional Library will display the FTFO Climate Change information boards for the month of September along with books exploring the topic for library patrons.

Over the next eight months, First Things First Okanagan will host six exciting events that explore climate change and its impacts from various perspectives. All events are open to the public. Admission is by suggested donation. We encourage everyone to come, enjoy the events, join FTFO if you wish, and make a small donation to help us cover costs and continue to work for solutions to climate change.
